Girl of the Book by Princila Murrell

Things I Love & Learnt About Girl of the Book by Princila Murrell

Girl of the Book by Princila Murrell is a cute book about a cute young teenager girl, Courtney Parker. Her father has accepted a two-year contract in Saudi Arabia, so the entire family has to move from Johannesburg to Jeddah, in Saudi Arabia. Everything feels foreign to Courtney…she misses home, she misses the school, but mostly she longs for her friends back home. What makes everything worse, Courtney’s new school is a world of cultural differences…Courtney must learn to adapt to an alien, seemingly unforgiving culture. Here she meets Lana and they become friends, but soon their friendship is put to try when Courtney befriends a Muslim boy in her building, named Nizar. Courtney, Lana and Nizar are being faced with challenges of their heritage, and this challenge of overcoming differences is their story…

Murrell tells a very heartwarming story about cultural differences, racism, prejudice, friendship and love…Targeted to middle school age children, Girl of the Book by Princila Murrell is a book that many can enjoy…I highly recommend it 🙂
